Following the descent of reliquaries on May 24th, the statue of Sara is carried by gypsies to the sea to symbolize the wait and the hospitality of Saintes-Marie de la Mer.
In this region, the horse is at the core of all events here; every day succeeds another abrivado (bulls are released in the village streets, surrounded by cowboys on horseback), roussataïo (consists of a release of mares in the village streets, escorted by the herd of horsemen), cabestria (release of oxen, equipped with noisemakers, whose purpose is to bring the bulls that were turned down on the road, back to the bullpen), parades and harnessed team processions in the streets of the village.
Shaded by its Romanesque bell tower, in the shadows of pilgrims, the visitor sashays along the paved back streets of Saintes-Marie de la Mer.
